What to Expect From GTA Heists

by March 9, 2015 0 comments

For those of you stopped running over pedestrians in Grand Theft Auto V, it’s time to get back in the driver seat. The long awaited “Heists” patch, announced at the game’s launch, is nearly here. Here’s what we know will be included: five heist missions, one training mission and four main missions. All individual sections take approximately 3-4 hours to complete and need a team of four people. Each Heist will be broken down similarly to the final mission in the main story line, completing smaller preparation tasks that come together in the final robbery. Before any of this starts, you need to select a “Heist Leader.” This person must be at least rank 12 and will be the one who offers up all the moola to get everything going. The leader will also be in control of what role each person fills and how the cash is split up.

The emphasis on teamwork and communication is huge, without it, players will find certain portions impossible to complete. Some missions will force you to synchronize your sniper shots to take down guards simultaneously or have someone manage hostages while another player cracks open a safe. So, it would be best to pair up with people with whom you know you work well.

Each Heist has loads of replayability. With the player able to complete each assignment in a different way and play as the leader or one of the three team members, this package offers well over 20 hours of gameplay.

There is an array of new weapons and vehicles that will be available. The vertical takeoff Hydra fighter jet from GTA San Andreas, the Valkyrie helicopter, and the HVY insurgent armor-plated truck, mounted with a 50 caliber machine gun will all accessible through the Heist missions.

Apparently a few people were lucky enough to get their hands on this patch early. It weighs in at a staggering 4.8G on the Xbox One. However for the Xbox 360 it’s only 1.2G, and it’s still unknown how large the patch will be for the PS3 and PS4 versions.

Oh, did we mention it’s free? That’s right, all this content is coming to your console free of charge, you just had to wait a year to get it. Even though it’s coming so late, it’s a nice expansion to give you an excuse to pop Grand Theft Auto back in your system… other than punching hookers.
