The Rich Are Afraid of Everyone Else

by January 28, 2015 0 comments

We’ve seen a great deal of civil unrest across the world over the last few years, and it’s only growing. The inequality between rich and poor is enormous, and it’s the biggest driving force for the protests we’ve been seeing. Even under the guise of racial tensions, police brutality, political corruption and feminism. The rich elite are to blame for the majority (if not all) of the issues the world is currently facing, and they know it.

President of the Institute of New Economic Thinking, Robert Johnson, told World Economic Forum in Davos that a lot of hedge funders have plans already underway for their escape from an uprising. Many of the wealthy 1% are buying remote properties in places like New Zealand. Johnson went on to say:

People need to know there are possibilities for their children – that they will have the same opportunity as anyone else. There is a wicked feedback loop. Politicians who get more money tend to use it to get more even money…I think the rich are worried and they should be worried.

In even the richest of countries, as we’ve seen in the United States and England (the London Riots), inequality is increasing, and it’s only going to get worse. Especially if you consider that the richest 80 people in the world, have much more than the rest. That’s 80 out of 7-billion people.

This could be a sign of a much brighter future but not before we reach a dark, bleak place. Sorry to get dark…uh…pot.
