Founder Of 4Chan Retires

by January 22, 2015 0 comments

4Chan, the birthplace of internet anonymity, which led to the formation of hacktivist group,¬†Anonymous, is losing a leader to retirement this week.¬†Christopher Poole, known as “Moot” to 4chan followers, started the website at 15-years old in 2003. The website out dates social media, and it’s current appeal is that, in a time when online anonymity is an endangered species, it still allows users to post anonymously. Poole says it’s been too challenging running the site on his own, and in his place will be a group of volunteers.

The site, mostly known for controversy, has seen more than 1.7 billion posts since it’s conception, and reaches 1.2 million visitors on a daily basis. Over the summer, when leaked celebrity photos were causing controversy, it was 4chan we had to thank. The site has been known for other such posts, often images of lesser known individuals can surface. This summer, images of the naked body of a dead woman were shared. A little different from the days when the website was meant for sharing comics and anime.

The internet is full of sick fucks.

The site is known for internet pranks as well, such as the failed campaign to send Justin Bieber to perofrm in North Korea. Which, I think Kim Jong Un would appreciate.
